How much domestic sewage is treated?

Guangzhou Daily once reported that the total domestic sewage treatment capacity in the central urban area of Guangzhou reached 2.98 million tons/day, with a treatment rate of nearly 90%. However, a reporter's investigation of sewage treatment plants revealed that areas with constructed sewage pipelines face three major threats: 'uncivilized construction, illegal dumping of construction waste, and illegal discharge of industrial wastewater.' Incomplete statistics from the Municipal Water Purification Company show that sewage pipelines in the central urban area have been damaged by uncivilized construction nearly 60 times in recent years. From January to April of this year alone, there were 22 instances of excessive suspended solids in the influent of sewage treatment plants in the central urban area, mostly due to the illegal discharge of mud and water into the sewage pipes, forcing untreated domestic sewage to be directly discharged into the Pearl River. Faced with such large sewage data, human health will be threatened. New Changjiang Water Affairs Company calls on everyone to protect water resources, rationally use water to reduce sewage treatment, for the health of you, me, and everyone.
